Eat Your Arthritis Away

It is well understood that what you put into your body can have a positive or negative impact on your health.  Different fresh foods can help with a variety of health problems including that which ails many of our customers, arthritis.  The following are a few food items that may help combat arthritis pain.

Cabbage- Eat three or more times a week, preferably in raw form to maintain vital nutrients.
Added bonus: Also helps protect against colds

Ginger- Use to spice foods or make into a tea a few times a week.  Fresh ginger has the greatest health benefits.
Added bonus: Stimulates digestion

Flax Seed- 2-3 tablespoons per day.  It's best to get whole flax seeds and store them in the fridge, grind them up so that your body can absorb the nutrients.  They can be added to cereals, salads and baked goods for an added nutritional punch and they are full of healthful oils.
Added bonus: Lowers levels of bad cholesterol.

Other foods that may help combat arthritis pain: cherries, 'fatty' fish, garlic, lettuce, orange and turmeric.

Consider adding some of these foods and see if your arthritis pain decreases.

The Care and Keeping of Knees

Image Found Here
Many of our customers use Sore No More on their knees to combat arthritis pain or pain from general wear and tear.  We wanted to give our fans a few tips on keeping their knees in tip top shape.

  • Warm up before you exercise.  Stretching is important to ensure that you don’t injure your knees.
  • Taking supplements such as Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM may promote joint health (consult your physician.)
  • Consider your weight.  The loss of even a few pounds for those that are overweight can lessen the load on joints and have a profound impact on pain and joint longevity.
  • See the doctor if you have knee pain for more than a week. Many problems can be corrected if they’re caught early.
  • Exercise! Keeping your muscles limber and strengthening them does wonders for joint health.  Check out these websites for some knee exercises;

What is Arthritis?

Simply put, Arthritis is joint inflammation, which causes pain and limited mobility.

Arthritis comes in many forms. Inflammation of the joints resulting from damage to the cartilage contained within them (osteoarthritis) or inflammation caused by an immune system malfunction (rheumatoid arthritis) are two possibilities. Out of over 100 types of Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis are the two most common.

While Arthritis may be genetic, it can also be due to childhood injury or excessive wear and tear (such as having an intensely physical job for for many years). Sometimes, illnesses such as Lupus or Gout can cause Arthritis.

Arthritis can be treated in a variety of ways. Some more drastic treatments include surgery, anti inflammatory medications (including steroids) and immune-altering medications. There are also some less invasive options such as physical therapy and alternative treatments.

Next week we will discuss options for alternative healing, so check back. Until then, head over to http://www.sorenomore.com/ and order a tub to relieve your arthritis aches and pains!
